tested in production hatcheries for more than a decade. Fluidized bed biofilter systems by Aquaneering are designed to be integrated into any size flow-through system and have proven to produce superior water quality with undetectable levels of ammonia, which is ideal for hatching, rearing, and holding live fish and crustaceans. Fluidized bed filters use a fine sand media that provides a tremendous area for 200 - 1000 different types of beneficial bacteria to grow, assuring a biologically stable ecology in the tank system. The bacteria population is constantly starved, which results in extreme "shock-loading" capabilities, and allows the filter to nitrify large amounts of ammonia without any change in the overall water quality. With upflow water circulation, the sand media acts as a fluid and will not short circuit or require maintenance as gravity and pressurized sand filters do.
Our fluidized bed biological filter systems are currently being used successfully for commercial aquaculture in six different countries including Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Jamaica, and the United States. |

Aquaneering Fluidized Bed Biofilters are the most powerful biofilters available to aquaculture and are designed to maintain the highest quality water in your tank system.
These filters provide 7,800 ft2
of surface area per ft3
of media compared to 400 ft2

for trickle filter media.
FBB - series packages come complete with the right size pumps, plumbing, hardware, and a packed column for CO2 stripping and oxygen saturation.
These systems can be integrated into any size existing filter system or stand alone as a complete
biofilter.

This product line starts with our 12 gpm FBB system and goes all the way up to a 600 gpm industrial size for very large commercial applications. Hi-rate systems are available for lower water quality standards and higher feed rates. These systems utilize the same equipment but use a 10 gpm/ft2
flow rate instead of 5 gpm/ft2.
Feed rates indicated below are designed to maintain undetectable levels of ammonia in the tank.

Aquaneering combines Fludized Bed Biological Filters with Propeller Wash Bead Filters to produce the highest water quality available in a recirculating system. Not only do these systems filter solids down to 20 microns and remove amonia and nitrates to undectable levels, but also our unique flow diagram allows mechanical filtration, biological filtration, and gas exchange all to occur by pumping the water once. MBF - Series packages include a fluidized bed biofilter system, bead filter with pre-plumbed backwash manifold, either manual or automatic, and online standby pump.
